One of the actors dressed as the Rutland Water osprey enacts its arrival in Africa. The red costumed actors are dressed as African birds.
The Way the Winds Blow

As part of the Four Winds Festival at Rutland Water Spiral Theatre, run by Chris Baldwin, LinkExternal link put on a production of a new piece especially written for the event. It celebrated the osprey's journey from hatching at Rutland Water, it's flight to Africa for two years of "growing up" and it's eventual return to the reservoir's bird sanctuary to breed, LinkExternal link
Also told through the narrative was the story of the flooding of the Gwash Valley to create Rutland Water, a huge reservoir owned by Anglian Water, LinkExternal link
Now a very popular place for recreation: fishing, sailing, bird watching, walking, cycling and just lazing about by the water; this vast expanse of water became the back drop for a event of music, dance and song brought together by professional actors and dancers, local school children, adult singers and local amateur and professional musicians with narration by Hannah Gordon. There was even a choreographed boat "ballet" on the water!
