Level crossing at Forge Farm
Level crossing at Forge Farm
The crossing takes the access road to Forge Farm (a public right of way on foot) over the Network Rail and Spa Valley Railway lines. There is a barrier for traffic but an unprotected pedestrian gate with warning signs.

A site visitor, Jim Stapleton, whose father worked the nearby signal box in the late 1940s, was brought up in the gatekeeper's house. He recalls "opening the gates for the traffic wanting to cross when mum was busy in the house."
