NS4380 : Anemometer mast

taken 7 years ago, 3 km from Blairquhomrie, West Dunbartonshire, Great Britain

Anemometer mast
Anemometer mast
The presence of the mast was presumably related to plans (which were eventually rejected) to build a windfarm that was to have been centred on the nearby NS4380 : Hill of Standing Stones.

Amongst other things, the mast shown here has several anemometers, wind vanes, and a rain gauge. It also had a red obstacle warning light, visible at night (causing some in surrounding areas to wonder about the source of a new light up on the moors).

Loch Lomond is visible in the background, with Ben Lomond prominent behind it, just left of centre.
