An aerial view of the village can be had from the cairn on Glenridding Dodd just south east of the true summit. Fleeting sunlight highlights the houses and shops beside the beck with the steamer piers on the edge of its delta. The putting course of the Inn on the Lake is obvious beside the lake. Patterdale opens up beyond the lake head pushing deep into its surrounding fells.
