Geograph - photograph every grid square

Angerton nestles between rocky knolls (Silurian shale) and would appear to be a medieval, possibly Saxon settlement. The name was recorded as Angertona in 1293. Strangely it is not in Angerton CP, but in Broughton-in-Furness CP.

Angerton Moss is part of the Duddon Mosses Nature Reserve, managed by English Nature, and there is a board-walk through the mossland. A leaflet is available.

Much of the square is rough grassland, crossed by the Furness Railway (See SD2085).

This is a desk study based on information from the internet, the OS 1:2500 map of 1889 and the OS 1:25000 map of 2001. Further information, and of course photographs, would be very welcome.
