One of UK's commonest butterflies, the Small Tortoiseshell has suffered a 70% decline in numbers over the last decade, more in southern England. This is thought to be either related to climate change or introduction of the parasitoid fly, Sturmia bella, first noted in Britain in 1999 LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
