There are a number of sidings here, and their use was probably much more extensive in the days when much more freight went by rail. Today a number of track maintenance machines are stored here, adjacent to the modern industrial units.
This photo was taken from the 1158 Penzance to London Paddington train, having left Plymouth at 1400.
