An RAC Telephone Box near Saxondale
An RAC Telephone Box near Saxondale
Situated on the A52 road West of Saxondale, this blue RAC telephone box No 34 was at one time a common sight on the roads in the United Kingdom. Besides providing the normal telephone service, these boxes contained a list of emergency telephone numbers (doctors, hospitals, police, garages, etc) whilst the majority of them also included maps and notices of general and local interest. However, by the early 1990s, these boxes had all but disappeared and, unlike a few AA telephone boxes, there are none remaining that are listed.
