This is in station road, once the site of Bentley railway station, previously Bentley Junction. At one time a junction of the Great Eastern mainline with a branch line to Hadleigh. It closed in 1966.

The radio mast is used for CSR (Cab Secure Radio) to allow train drivers to communicate to base. CSR will be superseded by GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communications - Railway) in November 2011.
