Eltham Conduit Head
The Conduit Head is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, situated behind Holy Trinity Church near Eltham High Street. It was built c.1500 by Henry VII to supply water from a spring here to his palace about a mile away TQ4274 : Eltham Palace - 15th cent Great Hall from the north. The system of two interlinked settling chambers was advanced for its day, although it would not have been unfamiliar to the Romans.
