Broken limestone, Clapdale Scars
Broken limestone, Clapdale Scars
'Pavement' does not really describe this area of limestone outcrop. The individual blocks (clints) are almost like rows of slates, brittle and unstable making for tricky progress. Penyghent can be seen rising beyond Clapdale and the limestone upland of Norber.
