Geilston Yair
For the main description of the yair, see NS3377 : Geilston Yair. It is an L-shaped structure: a section leads straight out from the shore, and then it makes a sharp turn to the left, pointing upriver. In the photo just cited, only the section leading directly out from shore was visible. The present photograph was taken, at low water, from the end of that section and shows the remainder of the yair (the part running parallel to the shore, pointing upriver).

The gap in the foreground may be the area where fish would be taken by means of hand-nets. This photograph was not taken in water, but from dry ground, namely, the far end of the part of the yair that appears on the right in NS3376 : Geilston Yair; that picture makes the overall structure of the yair clearer.

Located at the Murraghs, this is the second of six old yairs (fish-traps) whose remains can be seen on the shore between Ardoch and Craigendoran. The first is Ardoch Yair LinkExternal link and the third is Ballimenach Yair LinkExternal link
