Rear of Convent as seen from Onesmoor
Field of oil seed, viewed here from a footpath crossing Onesmoor. In the background is a convent situated at Kirk Edge. Although originally founded as an orphanage and industrial school, this site has been a monastery for the vast majority of its existence and is aligned to the Carmelite Catholic Religious Order. There are an estimated 70 monasteries worldwide of this denomination which places an emphasis on contemplative prayer.
