Arms of Godfrey Bosville
Arms of Godfrey Bosville
In 1705 Godfrey Bosville of Gunthwaite Hall restored the decaying 14th-century chapel of St James, formerly a private place of worship for the manor of Midhope, as a parish church. His arms are displayed on the gable of the south porch which was one of the additions made to the building at that time.
