Cancelled 1GL benchmark & bolt on railway bridge, Bangor
This 1GL benchmark & bolt located on the S abutment of a railway bridge in bangor was used during the Ordnance Survey's First Primary Levelling on the line between Warrington and Pembroke Docks, between September 1851 and July 1852. This mark was mark No.283 along this levelling line. The mark was also the start of a branch levelling line between Bangor and Holyhead. The mark was recorded as being 88.1160ft above the Liverpool datum. The mark does not appear in the current Ordnance Survey database and appears to have been cancelled.
