[Impatiens glandulifera. Stace's flora (2ed) calls it Indian Balsam, but it is perhaps more commonly known as NS3874 : Himalayan Balsam. It has a variety of colloquial names.]

The patch shown here lay not much further along the path shown in NS3676 : Footpath from Ardoch to Levengrove. See also NS3675 : Footpath from Levengrove to Ardoch, where other patches are evident.

This non-native species is an attractive plant, and popular with bees, but it spreads rapidly, and is widely viewed as a nuisance (see LinkExternal link for more information). The field in the background is yellow from an abundance of common ragwort (Senecio jacobaea).
