Billesley All Saints' Church
Billesley All Saints' Church
There is a record of a Christian church here as early as the 11th century and the present building shows some evidence of 12th century work in the north wall.

Historians argue about the location of the church in which William Shakespeare and Ann Hathaway were married but there is a strong possibility that it was at Billesley Church (see LinkExternal link - BBc News). Certainly, records show that Shakespeare’s grand-daughter Elizabeth was married here (more than thirty years after the poet’s death).

The present church was built in 1692. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building (LinkExternal link ), and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
