TQ2282 : Duckweed on the Grand Union Canal

Duckweed on the Grand Union Canal
Duckweed on the Grand Union Canal
I haven't seen as much duckweed on the canal before. At first I thought the canal was closed to boat traffic as the weed was right across the canal, but later I saw boats going through, and the film of duckweed drifting back to cover the whole width of the canal again. Because there are no locks on a long stretch of the Paddington branch of the canal, there is not much water movement. The weather recently has been in the high twenties centigrade, obviously favouring the duckweed.
