St Michael's Church
St Michael's Church
The story of the church dates back to 681, when the land on which the village now stands was given to St Wilfred by the Saxon King Cedwalla, whom he had converted to Christianity. Much of the building however, dates from shortly after the Norman Conquest and is the work of Bishop Luffa.
