Microhydropower, Lyme Regis
Microhydropower, Lyme Regis
This is in the old Town Mill and was commissioned in 2007 using a 7.07 kVA Ossberger cross-flow water turbine running at 245 rpm and driving a Brooke-Crompton alternator at 1500 rpm. It generates up to 32,000 kWh per annum but when seen was only managing 1.8 kW as it has been dry and the overshot waterwheel was also turning. There is current and justified enthusiasm for microhydropower and the number of schemes is increasing.
