Fowler steam roller, Swindon and Cricklade Railway, Blunsdon
The steam roller was built by John Fowler & Co of Leeds in 1913. A plate on the engine Link indicates that the original owner was the Guiseley Urban District Council. GUDC merged with other UDCs such as Yeadon in 1937 to form Aireborough UDC which in turn was subsumed into Leeds City Council in the reorganisation of 1974. John Fowler and Co merged with Marshall, Sons and Co of Gainsborough in 1947 to form Marshall-Fowler Ltd. That company ceased production in 1974. The haze in the image is steam and smoke from the various engines here today. This and other pictures of mine from today were taken at a Steam and Vintage rally at the heritage railway.
