TQ3004 : Old Entrance to Brighton Station

Old Entrance to Brighton Station
Old Entrance to Brighton Station
Originally those wanting to get to the station were saved a steep climb up the rest of Trafalgar Street by this route into the station. The passage also originally contained the public toilets and a gents barber at the bottom of a set of steps that led up to the concourse. The entrance was closed off during the 1980s to prevent the dossers and drunkards that used it from hassling travellers, though the toilets and barbers survived into the 1990s with the former finally moving into part of the old luggage office at the eastern end of the concourse sometime around 2000. See TQ3004 : Florists, Brighton Station for the point where it joined the station concourse.
