Dredging at Hessle Haven
Dredging at Hessle Haven
A cutter suction dredging barge working for the Environment Agency to break up and remove silt from the haven in order to reduce flood risk to West Hull, and protect areas of Hessle, Anlaby and Kirkella. The 120,000 project also involves removing the TA0325 : Sunken Barge at Hessle Haven which was restricting access for the dredging barge, allowing marine specialists full access to the culvert under Clive Sullivan Way. They thus hope to return silt levels in Fleet Drain, the culvert and Hessle Haven to a manageable level, ensuring the maximum amount of water can flow out of the drains during flooding.

The barge belongs to North Killingholme-based Humber Work Boats LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
