Conifer forest, much of which has been felled. The moor is part of a Heather Moorland restoration project to protect threatened wildlife species, in particular red grouse, curlew, lapwing,short-eared owls and golden plover.
Fox traps have been set, and dog walkers are strictly reminded to keep their dogs on leads.
