The underpass dates from the mid-1840s when the Caledonian Railway Company built Dalry Station. It provided access to the station from Dundee Street. The railway line was replaced by the Western Approach Road in the 1970s, so it still proves its worth as a convenient north-south connection between Caledonian Crescent and Dundee Street.
