TQ3280 : Fishmongers' Hall, London Bridge Approach

taken 8 years ago, near to City of London, Great Britain

Fishmongers' Hall, London Bridge Approach
Fishmongers' Hall, London Bridge Approach
A handsome composition of Henry Roberts, 1831-35, who won the competition at the age of twenty-eight. Roberts had been a pupil of Robert Smirke and Smirke's fondness for "cubical compositions" shines through here. The building has a noble Ionic portico facing the river. Grade II* listed.
This and Adelaide House (TQ3280 : Adelaide House, London Bridge Approach) over the road make for a fine approach to the City over London Bridge, not I suppose something often appreciated by the massed ranks of daily commuters.
