The Barge, Custom House
The Barge, Custom House
The Barge pub in Custom House, in London's Docklands. The pub dates from a time when the nearby docks were busy. Since the docks closed, the area became run down, but has since undergone regeneration. The Barge faces closure and demolition, to make way for a new entrance to Custom House station. The station is being enlarged as part of the project to build Crossrail, a new west-to-east railway line crossing Central London and serving Docklands.
