Most of Caerphilly is built on flat or flattish land. As the street names shown here suggest, the main exception is the area to the south of the railway station. Mountain Road is a long, steep climb from about 100 metres elevation near the railway station, to Caerphilly Common, the highest point of which is 271 metres (889 feet) above mean sea level.
