The old road, that now forms the slipway NY8130 : Road Closed used to provide access to Cow Green Mine where barytes were mined from old lead workings in the 1950s. The main mine buildings and shafts were submerged when the reservoir was constructed between 1967 and 1971.
Widdybank Fell Nature Trail
The walk starts at Cow Green car park and takes you over Widdybank Fell along the tarmac track to Cow Green dam and Cauldron Snout waterfall, returning the same way.
