Islington Tunnel
The Regent's Canal heads into the 960 yard Islington Tunnel. The duckweed gives the water the appearance of a bright green carpet and has caused some consternation locally, one Islington newspaper quoting a resident as saying that he had never seen anything like it in ten years. British Waterways said that they are monitoring the situation but the weed will disappear naturally as the weather gets colder. Note the clear track through the weed where a boat has passed recently.
