The weather station was set up in 1968 to measure the effect of Cow Green Reservoir on the local climate. Today it is used by scientists from the UK Environmental Change Network LinkExternal link to measure the effects of climate change on upland plants and animals. Widdybank Fell Nature Trail :: NY8130
The walk starts at Cow Green car park and takes you over Widdybank Fell along the tarmac track to Cow Green dam and Cauldron Snout waterfall, returning the same way.
