NT5647 : Thirlestane Castle

Thirlestane Castle
Thirlestane Castle
Cattle country in Berwickshire. Beyond the ruins a herd is moving over the flanks of Boon Hill.

This is a far older building than the new Thirlstane, a large house just outside Lauder. The Maitlands moved there leaving this ruin which is barely noticed from the Coldstream road.
