SH7882 : The Grand Hotel and pier entrance

The Grand Hotel and pier entrance
Viewed from the promenade. The 'kiss me quicks' and the derelict pier pavilion area to the left and behind the kiosks as well.
The pier pavilion was destroyed by fire in 1994 and the area has remained virtually untouched since then. The local council have been in protracted discussions with the owner but little is, we understand, likely to happen in the near future about restoration. It is a bone of contention with the locals however.
Shame, as being the 5th longest pier in the UK it has had a wonderful history.
Sadly, the Isle of Man Steam Packet, and others, are no longer able to offer trips from the end as it was deemed to be unsafe to moor a large craft. Another part of history gone, hopefully to be re-instated - funds permitting.
