London Hydraulic Power Company, Wapping Pumping Station - machinery
This is one of the post war (WWII) constant speed electrically driven pumps that replaced steam power. There is an AC motor on the left with reduction drive to the three throw pumps that pumped water to 750 psi for distribution to customers. Built by the Hydraulic Engineering Company of Chester and London. This is a rare sight indeed and is now in a cafe. The station closed as recently as 1976.
