East India Dock entrance lock
The East India dock has very largely been swept away but there is a nature reserve in the basin beyond these gates. This new larger, 65' wide, entrance lock was opened in 1879. the gates were by the Thames Ironworks company and the hydraulic operating machinery by Sir W G Armstrong Whitworth & Company. The gates are listed Grade II.
