Lock and Swingbridge on Royal Arsenal Canal
Lock and Swingbridge on Royal Arsenal Canal
This grade II listed swing bridge was once used to carry a standard gauge railway line (added in 1876) to connect the London, Chatham and Dover Railway (LCDR) at Plumstead, to the Royal Arsenal.

The Royal Arsenal Canal was built to allow supplies (especially timber) to
be brought into arsenal (from the River Thames) and to protect the eastern boundary of the site.

See LinkExternal link for more details about the bridge.
