Revising the northern approach to Cambridge Station
Revising the northern approach to Cambridge Station
In the centre of this picture taken from Mill Road Bridge a digger stands next to an area of fresh ballast which is being prepared to take new pointwork which will give passenger trains a smoother access to the new platform currently being built. The points which have been removed led to the goods sidings which are no longer used, on whose site the new platform is being built. For a view of this work from the south, see TL4657 : Cambridge Station: easing the curve, and for an idea of this scene before reconstruction began see TL4657 : South from Mill Road bridge.
