Wapsbourne Manor
Wapsbourne Manor
A building has stood on this site since Saxon times. The present L-shaped building is the remaining part of an earlier larger E-shaped house. In the 17th century the timber framing on the south and west sides , those most exposed to the prevailing winds, were covered with brickwork, and the distinctive chimney stacks erected. It is now at the centre of the unusual Wowo campsite which permits campfires, provides earth toilets , welcomes groups, kids and dogs , and has a number of yurts and tipis on site. It remains a private dwelling.
