East Lancashire Road "Halfords Junction"
East Lancashire Road "Halfords Junction"
The Halfords store has stood at the junction of the A580 (East Lancashire Road) and A572 (Worsley Road) for as long as I can remember and is something of a landmark on the route into Manchester via the East Lancs Road.
The East Lancashire Road (A580)
The A580 (officially the Liverpool-East Lancashire Road) links Walton in Liverpool to Salford. It was the United Kingdom's first purpose-built intercity highway (Archive LinkExternal link Historic Highways (archived)) being officially opened by King George V on 18 July 1934. The road is known colloquially as the "East Lancs Road".
