The Metrocentre is a large out-of-town shopping centre which opened in the 1980s. Although it was designed to be easy to reach by car, it is also well served by public transport. A new railway station has been built (although the station isn't visible in this image, the railway tracks are just visible to the left of the image, beneath the concrete bridge). There is also a large bus station where passengers can wait under cover.
