George Beer Window (Bell & Crown)
George Beer Window (Bell & Crown)
The Bell and Crown pub carries reminders of at least three former breweries who have run the place over the years.
The earliest is this window proclaiming "Geo Beer & Co's Pale Ales"
George Beer's Star Brewery was situated by the city wall on the other side of the cathedral from here. The company merged with Fremlins of Maidstone in 1933 and the brewery was demolished three years later

On the wall above is a sign from Trumans brewery.
A Fremlins window is round the front. TR1458 : Fremlins Window (Bell & Crown)
