River Avon
River Avon
This shows the tidal river Avon at its junction wit the Floating Harbour and the New Cut. The New Cut at the top right is tidal. The entrance to the Floating Harbour is on the left through the large lock gates on the Brunel Lock. The New Cut for the River Avon was dug in 1820 to allow the harbour to become non-tidal and make it easier for boats to load and unload.
