Segregated shared use path and advanced stop line near the Gun Barrels pub, Bournbrook
The wide footway on this section of Bristol Road had recently been converted to segregated shared use path. The cycle path ends at this point and cyclists are forced to rejoin the carriageway at a cycle reservoir behind an traffic light advanced stop line.
Very little thought seems to have gone into this facility, particularly for cyclists wishing to turn right at the traffic lights. Note that the first stop line goes right to the kerb and there is no kerbside filter lane to allow cyclists on the carriageway to legally enter the reservoir (as its against the law to cross the first stop line when the lights are on red). The only legal way in is from the cycle lane along the footway.
