Selly Oak New Road Phase 2 construction site
A new relief road was under construction, designed to take pressure off Bristol Road through Bournbrook / Selly Oak. Crushed tyre bales such as those seen here were being used extensively to construct temporary banks and ramps. Unfortunately around 500 tyres went up in (black acrid) smoke on 22 May.
