Part of Din Lligwy ancient settlement
Part of Din Lligwy ancient settlement
The settlement is one of several in the locality along the Lligwy valley, this one being on higher ground with good all round views and a reliable water supply, making it suitable for roundhouses and associated smithy and workshops. The site may have its origins in the Iron Age but when excavated in the early 1900's produced large quantities of later Roman period pottery sherds, some mended with iron clamps (implying that there were no local potters).
