Stoneypath Tower - restoration complete
Stoneypath Tower - restoration complete
See Alastair Seagrott's picture from 2005 NT5971 : Stoneypath Tower. The tower is a late 14th C medieval fortified tower house, which was in a state of dereliction until bought and restored by Stephen Cole in 1999; the restoration took 7 years. Cromwell is supposed to have removed the roof during the sacking of East Lothian Castles in the 1650s, and in the 1700s it was used as a quarry to build local houses.
