The Astoria moored on the Thames
The Astoria built for entertainment impresario Fred Karno in Brentford at a cost of 20,000 in 1913. After his bankruptcy it was sold to Vesta Victoria (1873-1951), a music hall singer and comedienne. In 1986, it was bought by Pink Floyd guitarist, David Gilmour who has used it as a recording studio for the Pink Floyd albums 'A Monentary Lapse of Reason' and 'The Division Bell' along with his solo album 'On an Island'
