Mercote Hall Lane
Mercote Hall Lane
A group of dusty oak trees marks a bend in the lane as it threads its way through sand and gravel workings. The block on the skyline is presumed to be for washing and grading the material. Its location appears to be SP23008127.
The lane runs between Cornets End Lane and the A452, its western half being bridleway only. Judging by old maps, Mercote Hall was a country house, possibly an old manor house, at approximately SP224801. See SP2280 : Former grounds of Mercote Hall
