Leaf galls on common alder
Leaf galls on common alder
These galls are caused by the mite Eriophyes laevis. This is just one of several kinds of gall that are specific to alder.

The tree on which these galls occurred stands between the Riven Leven and the section of path shown in NS3975 : Cycle path, north of railway bridge.

[For some of the other varieties of alder gall, see NS3977 : Leaf galls on common alder, NS3980 : Leaf galls on common alder, NS3977 : Alder tongue gall, and NS4076 : Leaf galls on common alder.]
