Birsay: Earl’s Palace
Birsay: Earl’s Palace
Built in the mid-1500s by Earl Robert Stewart, this was once an amazing building with fine paintings of biblical scenes on the ceilings. However, after Stewart's death it was used only occasionally and by the early 1700s it was already decaying badly.
